Mr ami Mrs Pomeroy, of Hamilton, are spending a short: holiday at Tauranga. Mr Bruce (Federal Premier) announces that Mr W. C. Hill has been appointed Minister of Works and Railways in succession to Mr Stewart. A London cable says Air J. H. Thomas, Secretary for the Colonies, ami the British delegation to the Empire Parliamentary Association have lel t for South Africa. The death occurred in the Gisborne Hospital last week of Mr W. A. Holland, formerly of Pcngaka\va. About eighteen months ago deceased was seriously injured as the result of being threwn from a horse and had been an inmate of the Gisborne Hospital up till the time cf his death-
