According to a report received at Colonia Morelos, the earthquake in Sonora, Mexico, took heavy toll of lives in the towns of Gramies and Huasapas. Persons who had retired for the night constitute the major portion of fatalities. They were killed when the. houses collapsed. Oputo is reported to have suffered but slightly. There were no deaths there and only a few people were injured. Reports from Macadencia and Macorichico are anxiously awaited. These are small towns, east of the volcanic, range of mountains, which are- believed to be the centre of the disturbance.
