IMPROVEMENT OF EAST COAST ROAD

LARGE MAJORITY FOB TE PUNA LOAN A poll of ratepayers of a large section of the To Puna Riding was held yesterday, on a proposal to raise a ban of £4,000 for the purpose of effecting desirable improvement's to the East Coast Main Road through the Riding. The loan was carried by forty-two votes to six, and as the County Council has everything in order for the early raising of the money tbe work should be in hand in the near future. The loan is being supplemented by Government grants totalling £6.700, approximately, making a total of £10.700 for expenditure. Parts of this road were in bad order last winter, and the money now available will enable considerable improvements to be caried out.
