ATHLETIC CARNIVAL
MAUNGATAPU SCHOOL WINS BANNER.
A Schools' Carnival, in aid of thr Maroro Queen, was held in tho school grounds on Saturday, and wad a pronounced success. The Carnival was organised by the teachers of the Tanranga District High School, and the Tanranga District School Committee donated a banner fo r competition amongst Ihe various schools. The competition resolved itself into a duel her iv.aen the Maungatapu and Taurauga schools, the former winning after une keen and exciting contests, by I/O points to Tauranga.’s 38. Other ■chcols to score points were Gate Pa Cambridge Road. and Mount. The varied programme of fifteen events was got through promptly, thanks to the splendid arrangements of Messrs Dale and White. Miss Gavcy, as .secretary, did good work, while Miss Dailies, who had charge of the side shows, and Miss Robbins at the refreshment stall, contributed materially to the success of the funds The special thanks of the teachers are due to Mr A. Leslie, who took charge of the hockey games. So successful was the gathering that, the teachers of tlie district purpose making it an annual event.
