GRAZING ON ROADS
REQUEST TO COUNTY COUNCIL A letter was read at Friday’s meeting of the County Council from Mr J. R- AncUnor,, No.l Road, To Puke, who wrote as follows: “Can I get grazing from you on the No.l Road, Te Puke, for one cow, one heifer, and one horse, as from April I, and could you tell me what the charges will be ? Cr Vercce said the Farmers’ Union desired to know whether 1 the Council would issue collars for the grazing of milch cows on the ro d during the day time. Me wasin favour of giving permission to allow applicants to graze, say, one or two cows, but net a herd This would be a help to certain people. Cr Grant was inclined to agree with Cr Vercoe. Later, Cr Vercoe moved—That wbhin the boundaries of the Maketu Riding settlers be allowed to run not more than two milking cows on the by-roads of tlu Riding by the payment of £l per annum by the collar system. The motion was seconded by Cr Griffin, and carried.
