Mr J- Jones, auctioneer, City Markets, Auckland, reports sales for week ending June sth :—Poultry, heavy supply ; market steady, though values lower.! he pig market is firmer. Heavy quantities of fruit are coming forward. Apples and pears are a shade easier; lemons are easier- Local potatoes are in heavy supply and sale is slow. The grain market is very firm. We quote :
Poultry. —Hens, heavy 4s 6d to 5s 4d, good 3s 3d to 3s o.d, light 2s 6d to 2s 9d ; pullets, heavy 8s to 13s 4d, small 4s 6d to 5s a.d, White Leghorns according to size 3s 9d to ios 6d; clucks, 5s 6d to 7s 9d; drakes, 4= to 6s ; roosters, heavy 5s 6cl to 6s 6d, good 5s to 5s 3d, light 3s to 3s 9d; turkeys, gobblerc ios to 14s 9d, hens 5s to 9s. Pigs.—Weaners 15s 6d to £l 4s stores £1 ios to £1 15s.
Produce. — Potatoes, Southern £9 to £10, local prime from £6 to £7, small £4; onions, £8 to £T0; swedes, £4 ios ; pumpkins, 5s to 7s ; kumeras, Us to 13s; butter, is 4d ; eggs, 3s to 3-s 3d; cheese, is 2d ; hams, is 6d to is 8tl; sides of bacon, is 3d to is sd; honey, yd to Bd.
Fruit.—Apples, dessert, 6s to 10s, cookers 4s to 6s; persimmons, 3s to 4s ; oranges, 8s 6d to 14s; pears, 4s to 8s 6d; tomatoes, 6s to 9s 6cl
Grain. —Maize, 10s to us 3d; oats, 7s 3d; Algerian oats, 8s o,d ; barley, 9s 6d ; bran, ios 6d ; chaff, Southern, £15 to £16.
