Meeting of Joint Committees.
A meeting of the Joint Committees of the Tauranga Borough Council and Chamber of Commerce, appointed in connection with the proposal to have Tauranga and Te Puke included in the itinerary of the tour of the Prince of Wales, was held in the Borough Council Chambers last evening, Mr J. (President of the Chamber of Commerce), presided, and others present were Colonel Ward, Messrs B. C. Robbins and J. C. Adams (Chamber of Commerce), His VVorship the Mayor, Mr B. Dive, and Crs T. Tanner and C. Whiting (Borough Council).
A message was received from the Te Puke Town Board, promising co-operation in the proposal.
'Af*er. a lengthy discussion a sub-committee, consisting of Col. Ward and Mr Adams, was appointed to dra eta letter to the Minister of Internal Affairs, setting forth the claims of the town and district, mainly on historical grounds, to such a visit, such draft to be considered by a further meeting of delegates to be held on Monday afternoon, when it.is expected that Te Puke representatives will also be able to attend.
