T-i :ranga vi «.y bt> patdouablv praud of i"s District High School, particularly or su^ achievements of the pupils of the >:Gondnrf Department in slip recent ■ xacninathne, the final results o{! A-fii- m we published on Monday. I o-da> -vo publish a I'm!I list, of the s;:Ci: HP s. ;-i.(l this in i-self fuTiivhps ample eviduu.e that, the instruction received it? of >\ distinctly, high order, and ic!l >cs tL-. c e:i'c-i credit cm Mr L;\v. ,'h" headmaster, arid ou Miss T;iyi. ••, who, with th^-. aesiatanr.^ of.Mr J VV JJouuell, is cV.->\ tly rotuonsible for tlo work in the tccjiidixry bcpartment. That the good work of theschool is not sufficiently kuowu, and that a great deal of miseoncep tfon exihts ?.s to ihe range of subjects Uught is very forcibly impressed i pon us by'he letter from Mr Law ppeariug in this issue. We commeud tv parents and others interested a careful perusuil of Mr Lavp's letter, especially the portiou dealing with the want of accommodation for pupils from country districts who desire to attend the school, and undoubtedly would if suitable board and lodging could be i'ouud. At no distant date ths railway will be ruuuing to Matata, and with she solution of the accommodation problem the school could look for an ulmost immediate large influx of scholars from the district served by the railway. By attending the echool at Cuuranga pupils would be assured of an education equal to that obtainable in any other secondary ischool iti the Pro vie cc, and be within reach of their homes for the week-ends. The Committee might very well take advantage of the opportunity which the recent successes afford of making the school and its etauding more widely known, having first in some measure made whatever arrangements are possible for the accommodation of pupils who may bec-ffeiiog.
