Sir Douglas Haig reports : There is the usual artillery activity. Our aeroplanes last night dropped a tOU ■of bombs ou the Tluonvillc fatcel Works midway between Luxemburg • lQ d Metz, and a further half ton on two large railway junctions in the neighbourhood of Metz. Considerable anti-aircraft searchlight barrages w?t e encountered, but all the machines returned \ French communique reports violent artillery actions in t\\e Beau- . Mont aud Courieres Wood sector and oa the right hank of theX-Meuse,. north of Verdun An enemy attack at Cbaume Wood, on a front of two hundred metres, was broken by our artillery. A few of the enemy gamin«» a-footing in an advanced element - VP are' immediately "thrown out.
