We are indebted to Mr G. J. Butcher, official observer, for the following extract from tha weather report for the month.of March,: 1917, at Taurang^: — Mean tpaximarn temperature 71.1 Mflan minimum temperature 50.1 Extreme maximum 23rd 82.0 Extrerce minimum, 28tb 43.5 Approximate mean for month 60.6 Mean daily range 21.0 Mfcan daily amount of cloud 4.0 with one cloudless day. Tctal rainfall 3.30 Days with rain 7 Maximum rainfall on 21st 1.27 This month's rainfall is only two thirds of March, average 4.94. The total fall for the ffrst quarter of the Sear has been 1632 points, which is 604 points more than the average of the previous years. There has again been an unusual amount of easterly wind, 25 diys in all—l 6 N.E., 7E\ cad 2 S.E,
