RIFLE SHOOTING.
Service shooting was again the order last Thursday. A trophy presented by the Secretary, Rifleman A. E. Hammond, was competed for. The severe conditions brought out some good shooting, 2nd a good deal of the other kind.
UiHenian J. Pease was the surprise packet of the day. He only missed first place by one. point. Fooks was first, his splendid 23 points in 2U seconds gave him a ]cad which he maintained in the remaining shoot?.
The conditions were: —Small target exposed for 20 seconds at 300 yards; and live shots slow at same target at 400 and 500 yards, service conditions: 300 400 500 Tl yds yds yds RiflemanFooks 23 16 9—48 Rifleman tease 19 3 9 9— 47 RifiemanMirrielees 12 13 15 —40 President Whiting 10 3 5 13—3S Riflmn Hal'd Oliver 2 18 17—37 Rifleman Poole 12 10 6— 28
