Enemy's Offensive in Riga Area Arrested.
Kec Oct 3, 2 40 pm •Petrograd, Oct 2 A communique says ;— A German attack on Uie railway cast of Mitawa was unsuccessful. Enemy aeroplanes bombed Ustovinsk and Riga and the railway station fit Oguer There was little damage of a military character. The Germans, after heavy bombardment, carried some trendies north-west of Lake Sventen. We carried by assault the town cf Dunilovitchi, north-east of Lake Medziol - 3 and also dislodged the enemy from the village of Ajuny and the railway'station at JVledziol. Our cavalry captured a large enemy convoy east of Lake JSfarotcli, on tho lower Servetch. East of Novo Grodok we raided the villages of Juki and Korolitzy. The Germans (led to iheir main positions, discarding their arms We drove the enemy over the river Chara, near Zurietche. The enemy, after artillery preparation, attacked near Oborki. youtheast of Kolki the enemy advanced a hundred paces, sustaining enormous losses, and then broke and fled in disorder. Heavy fighting continues south of Oborki. JPetrograd, Oct 2 Military critics consider that ihc enemy's offensive from lliga to Piusk has been arrested.
