The Postal Department advises that the Wellington-daez; despatch of mails of August 19th, arrived in Loudon on the 2Utta ulto. During his recent visit to Wk.ka. tane, Mr Metcalfe, engineer in charge of the harbour improvements, at the request of the Board, compiled the necessary data to enable him to supplement the scheme under which improvements are at present being carried out. At Netherton on Friday night a farewell social was tendered to Mr and Mrs EH Mackay prior to their departure for Katikati, where Mr Mackay will take over the duties of schoolmaster, (says an exchange.) For a period of eight years, Mr Mackay has had charge of the Netherton school during which time he has earned the profound respect of both the residents of the district and his scholars.
