ENCOUNTER IN MELBOURNE.

Subsequently, with Ward, they were charged with the murder of McGratb The burglars' objective was tbe office of the Typographical Society. The Society's safe was found wrenched from its stand and a portion of the steel back sawn off. When interrupted the men were prising open the safe with a jemmy. Several attempted burglaries were made in the Trades Hall lately. One succeeded and £400 was stolen. Since then the building has been closely watched. Rec Oct 2, 9.25 a.m. Melbourne, Oct 2. In connection with the Trades Hill affray, the three men arrested ire builders' labourers, two being members ot the Union, having rooms in the Trades Hall.
