Cattle Fair, Te Puke.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., held their animal spring cattle fair at Te l-uke on Tuesday last, when about 2,500 head- of cattle were yarded, which number would havebeen augmented by further entries totalling five hundred head had the weather been Jine for the previous two days. Without cbubt for quality and condition the cattle were the finest that have so far been seen at any - eale in the Bay of Plenty, and would bear very favourable comparison with the entries in the best sales] conducted in the leading stock centres in New Zealand. The whole of the cattle were submittedon behalf of Kay ot Plenty graziers and farmers, the bulk coming from the districts surroundingTe Puke. A special feature of tbe sale ~was the three and four year old bullocks, off turnips, numbering about y thousand. Buyerswere present from Auckland, Hamilton, Cambridge, Horotiu, Matarnata, Waiotapu, Kotorua, Tauranga, Rangitaiki, Whakatane, Matata, Taneatua, Opotiki, and surrounding districts. Waikato buy ers purchased five hundred head and Coastal settlers about seven hundred tnd fif<y. Ihe balance \vtre bought locally, pointing to the fact that there is plenty of feed in the ♦ county.
