RAILWAYS CONSTRUCTION.

NEW SECTIONS AUTHORISED.

Bill Before Parliament,

: Wellington, Sept 27. The" construction of various new sections of railway along routes already decided upon and in course of preparation is authorised by the Railways Authorisation Bill, introduced in the House to-night by (iorernor's Message. Ihe sections particularly specified are as follows: —

Paeroa-Pokeno ioute: A length cf about six miles from the authorised line at Paeroa to a point in Block 11., Waihou'Survey District.

East Coast Main Trunk route: A length of aDout 21k miles frorc the end of the authorised line at Athenree to the end of the authorised line at Wairoa River; a length of "about 2£>h miles from the end of (he. authorised line at Taueatua to Opotiki; and a third section of about 93 miles from the end of the authorised line at Hangaroa to the end of the authorised line in Block 111., Puketapu Survey district. A branch line of about two miles to a wharf on the left bank of the Wairoa River, opposite Wairoa town, is also proposed.

South Island Main Trunk: A length of about 13 miles from the end of the authorised line at Kekerangu to the Clarence River.

Lawrerce-Roxturgh route: A section of about 15 miles from the end of the authorised line at Beaumont to the northern boundary of Block 111., Benger Survey District.

Following on corresponded 3 from the secretary of the Aucklandßailvvays League to the effect that that League had hearti'y endorsed the authorization and other proposals of the Tauranga League with respect to the section of railway between Tauranga and Waihi, a telegram reached Col. Ward, President, on Wednesday afternoon stating that the Auckland League, now proposed to send a delegate to Wetting ton and asking if on 3 would also go from Tauranga. The telegram further stated that it was expected that the session would close next Wednesday. A hastily convened meeting of such of the Committee as ccukl be got together was held at Messrs Sharp and Tudhope's office on Wednesday when it was decided that as response to the appeal for public subscription has been totally inadeqquate to defray the cost of sending a delegate to Wellington, this League could net send a representative this year. Satisfaction was expressed, however, that the League's pressing demands for authorization of the missing link between here and Waihi had borne good fruit.
