We gained a footiug at "several points ou the enemy's second defenssive position at CJiampugne and are firmly holding them. ' We even passed the secoud line at one point, but the progress was not maintained, owing to violent fire1 curtains aud a Hanking bombardment Our aviators bombarded the enemy's communications. Shells were also thrown on several railway stations, aud ova marchiug column at Sommepy.
