Russians Achieve Success in Tarnopol Region. Rec Sept 29, 9.30 p.m. Petrograd, Sept 29. A communique records: —Fierce fighting took pjpce in the Dvinsk, Mehuiany, and Baranovitch regions. The enemy in attacking with large forces at many points southward of Pripet slid on the Galician front. After furious bayonet encounters we occupied Vorobievka, north-west-ward of Tarnopol. German Communique. Rec Sest 29, 9.50 p.m. Amsterdam, Sept 29. A German communique £a\s:—The booty taken in the Vilna battle included three guns, seventy-five machine guns, seventy officers, and 21,908 men.
North-east of Vischneff we broke through the enemy's position, taking 3,300 prisoners and capturing nine machine guns.
