Kec Sept 23, 8 p.m. London, Sett 23. Mr lan'Malcolm, Unionist Member in the House of Commons for Croydon, has published a volume of war pictures, including an extract from his diary relating to an interview in Berlin in Jaunary, 1914, with the Crown Prince. The latter suggested that England and Germany ought to be better friends, but said this was impossible while England wag friends
with such people as the French and Russians. The Crjwn Prince said:"You have nothing in common with them and nearly everything ; n common with us. Together we c^uld divide Europe and keep tha peace of the world for ever."
Mr Malcolm recalled the impossibility of breaking existing treaties.
The Crown Prince replied: "You could shut your eyes and let us take the French colonies. We want them."
Mr Malcolm answered: "Forgive me, but surely it is better to improve the colonies you have before you take those of other people."
The Crown Prince replied: ''That is candid, but none of o>ir colonies are worth anything, otherwise you would have had them lons ago."
The interview closed with the Crown Prince exclaiming: "I want war. I want to have a smack at those French swine as soon as ever I can."
