In the House of Representatives, in reply to a question, the Premier aaid he was sorry to hear that the price of butter had again been raised in Welington. He would look into the matter.
The Minister of Defence said he had no intention of holding an inquiry into rumours concerning recently returned troops. He said after the Maori Contingent left a contingent of from 253 to 300 Niue Islanders and fifty Rarotongans would be brought to New Zealand to go into camp at Auckland.
Hon. J. Allen also stated he had decided to raise an Engineer Tunnelling Corps of 300 or 400 men. The Sale of Goods and Drugs Amendment Bi,ll was read a first time. The Births and Deaths Registration Bill wa3 read a third time and passed. The House went into Comn>.iUee of Supply on the > Education estimates. The votes for all the remaining classes were passed. 3 The House rose at 11 p.m.
