CHARGES OF CONSPIRACY.
Army Contract Case. Eec. Sept. 17, 8 25 a.m. Melbourne, September 17.
The High Court delivered judgment in the conspiracy cases, against Arthur Kidman and others in connection with contracts for supplies to the army. The full bench of six judges hel^cl that the indictment was valid iv cctomon law, but five dissented from the Chief Justice's opinion that under the constitution a law could not be passed after tbe act had been committed declaring that the person who committed it was guilty of a crime and liable to punishment.
