The alarming fact that an outbreak of smallpox has occurred in Auckland was confirmed by officers of Hie Health Department this morning. S« far only one casu lias been reported, and every cilort is being put forward 10 limit an extension. The patient is a half-caste Maori named James Rukutai. He is now in the hospital isolation ward at Piiint Chevalier, iind Ilia residence at Onehunga huH been thoroughly disinfectc.J.
