AN OTUMOETAI ROAD.

A letter was read at the meeting of the County Council on Tuesday from j Mr S. Kingsbury, Otumoetai, who wrote re his otFer to give road through his 'property in exchange for road running between Mr Darragh's and the writer's land. Mr Kingsbury stated he wa3 prepared to erect the whole fence, similar to piesent one, if the Council paid him £15; or, to pay £15 to the Council to do it. He said he was also prepared to take £'40 for tne road, and asked that the matter be settled at once. Cr. Spence said Mr W. Darragh was willing to pay £20 towards the purchase of road. Mr Tollemache was present and said the matter had been brought before the County Council originally. The road relieved the main road considerably, and reduced the distance between Otumoetai and the town. Cr. Southt\y said the only way to settle the mutter was by paying the tmiance required. Cr. Slovcnson intirryicd that the Separate Kate Committee would pay half the deficiency if the County Counj cil would pay half. !
