ASSOCIATION MATCH.
The opening "soccer" match of the tea on was played on the Domain on King's Birthday, when the representative) of the newly-formed Tauranga Association Club met a team from the steamer Ngapuhi. The game was fast and interesting, but the landsmen proved Uo strong for their opponents ar.rt'wm by ten goals t) one. For the winners goals were registered by G. Fairclough (5), Hicksoi:, Carleton, and Kennedy, whi'e two goals were scored off the Ngapuhi's men. The above players, and Hall and Clark (2) rendered excellent service for the winners. Rogers, England, -Thompson, and Milner (substitute) were the must conspicuous in the Ngspuhis. Mr Cairncross carried out the duties of referee in an impartial manner, while Messrs C. Griffiths and F. Stewart acted as linesmen.
