The second ., reading of the Otjafci an^ Porirua Empowering- Bill was adjourned for a week.

The Maori Land Settlement Act Amendment Bill and Reserve Fund Securities Bill were brought downby Governor's message, and read a first time.

The Premier 'moved a similar m«>tion to that ot the Upper House respecting the la^. Mr J. W, Thomson. The motion was seconded toy Mr Massey, spoken to by Messrs J. Allen, Steward, Malcolm, and T. McKenzic and carried.

The House adjourned as a mark ol respect at 4 p.m. until 7.30 p.m.

EVENING SITTING. On resuming at 7.30. The Apiaries Bill was read a secondtime.

The House went into committee of supply. The votes 'to. the Legislature Departments (£26,842), Colonial Treasurer's Department (£53,7-68), and Post and Telegraph Department. (£687,782) were, passed unaltered.

After midnight- the Old Age Pensions Department vote of £5990 was passed without alteration, and progress was reported.

The House' then adjourned.
