The strong easterly gale and consetquenx heavy sea, which set i« on Monday has had the effect of causing a complete deadlock in local shipping. The s.s. Ngatiawa set out from Auckland for Tauranjra on Monday evening, but was forced to put back and the early week trip Has been abandoned. The s.s. Waiotahi is bart round at- Opotiki, ami the s.s.
