The skin-grafting case.
Auckland, Tuesday.— Steps are being taken to give public expression to the feeling of sympathy which many people entertain towards Miss Ethel Baker, who figured as plaintiff in the recent skin-grafting case at the Supreme Court.
A preliminary medting, largely attended, was held in the V.M.0.A.. Kooins yesterday afternoon.
Those present formed a G/eneral Committee and a sub-Committee was appointed to prepare a draft address of sympathy to Miss Baker also report as to the best means of expressing, in more practical form, the feeling of the public in regard to the treatment of that lady in the case in question. The address will be presented to Miss Baker at a public meeting to be held next week. A large number of letters referring to the case are appearing in the paper. j Dr Purchas, defendant in the i case, left for Sydney last evening en route for England.
