STEAM THRESHING.

The .threshing season being close at hand We would draw the attention of farmers to the advantages of the steam threshing machinery, which is provided for them this season. Last year this machinery gave the fullest satisfaction to all who employed it, and many who (against their best interests) di<J not, much regret their foolishness. Some inconvenience and expense was occasioned last season in getting hone teams to convey the thresher from rarni to farm, but that bug-bear has now been relegated to oblivion by the advent of the splendid traction engine, imported for this season's work. With such excellent machinery in the district it is .to the interest of every grower of cereals to give the owner every enwuragemen^dhetp for advantages he offers. We are informed by a gentleman, well acquainted with steam threshing in Canterbury that the local rates for threshing are lower than those ruling in the South Island. The advantages offered are:— thorough threshing, not agrain being left in the straw — a finished sample delivered into sacks, perfectly graded into three sizes of grain, free from dust, dirt, chaff or other refuse— eeperation of the chaff, which can be bagged— delivery of the straw in au almost unbroken condition perfectly clean and free from rust, smut, dirt, etc, etcy— the straw elevated for stacking—and the whole done in the least possible lime and best manner. These advantages cannot be attained by any other i class of threshing machine, and such services are cheaper at double or treble the iprice charged for threshing by spme macit» me owners, whose work waste* more than would pay lor the services of* first-class
