TO THE EDITOR,

Sir, — In your issue of Tuesday, when referring to preparations made in Auckland for the commencement, of the oricketing 1 season, you expressed a hope that something would be done to revive interest in the timehonored game in this district. The chief reason why so liitle interesl has been taken is that the present ground is unsafe to play on, and izntil measures are taken to secure a place where a better pitch "can be obtained there are many good cricketers in Tauranga who wi'l not identify, themselves with the laoal olub.' On the present ground, in its present Btate, a good pitch cannot be obtained for any length of time and so long as that ia the case, good oriole jtera will refrain from playing not merely beaauce it is dangerous, but because it is detrimental to their scyle. How can men stand before fast bowling with confidence when he knows not the moment the tall will riso and do him positive injury ? It would be well, Sir, it the members of the club wore convened at earliest convenience and then let steps be taken to secure a comparatively safe ground, and many would come forward and subscribe their names and give their hearty support to the Tauranga Cricket Club. — I am, &c, j BuTTERFINGERS.
