In the Supreme Court yesterday W. Burton, arraigned on a charge of indecent assault, was acquitted ; John George Templeton, for robbery from a dwelling, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment with hard labour. The body of a new-born female child, much decomposed, was found in the Avon, near the Cemetery, yesterday evening. The police have not yet ascertained how it came there.

H. McAlpine, formerly a liverystable keeper in Christchurch, was thrown from his horse on Sumner road yesterday, and died from the injuries this morning. A new rifle rango is to be purchased for the Volunteers.
