KATIKATI RIDING,

TO THE EDITOR.

Sic, — At the eleventh hour, and to serve a purpose, Mr Cecil Gledstanea has been brought forward to stand for the Countyelection, to try to keep out one of Mr Vesey Stewart's best friends. Mr Gledstanes suggests Mr Win. Kelly's policy to secure votes, that he will issue a circular aud say that if elected when Mr Stewart returns to the Colony and deeiies a seat in the Council lie will retire in his favour. The intelligent people of Katikati wont allow him to throw dust in their eyes. Mr Cecil resign his seat ! Oh, no ; he would hold tenaciously to it, as he did at the School Board election, when Mr Stewart's eldest son stood for a seat, both having 14 votes, Mr Stewart having votes from 1 1 people and Mr Gledstanes from 7, and if he did not plump for himself deponent sayoth not, and only got in by the casting vote of the Chairman. I understand there is to be a fourpenny ratepayer come all the way from Tauranga to keep out Capt. MacmilJan ; lest the cat might get out of the bag in the Council Chambers, I would recommend that gentleman to stay at home, and not come here with any of his "4d dodges," or Mr Gr. V. ■will atop his perquisites on the railway line. — I am, &c,

Anti-Dodger,
