MES HOBEN'S SCHOOL FEAST.

The school -feast and distribution of prizes in connection with Mr Hoben's school,, were held yesterday in the Bishop's paddookj opposite the Temperance Hall. The weather was lovely, and as a most hospitable reception bad been prepared for the young people and their friends, it could not be otherwise than that those present should enjoy themselves thoroughly. The day was, passed' in the usual pleasant way by tbe children, the elder visitors assisting to promote their happiness, and at the dinner and tea hour all were in. vited to partake of refreshments laid out under an awning in generou. profusion. The prizes were distributed in the afternoon by Mr E. M. Edgcumbe. Before proceeding with the distribution,, which was regulated on the principle that tbe pupil with the highest number of' marks should make the 6rßt selection of the prizes laid out on the table, Mr Edgcumbe addressed the ohildren at some length, among other things reminding them that they uii.t not forget.their late respected teacher, Mrs Starkey, who, since the last school feast was i eld had been taken from among them.
