PER PRESS AGENCY. Auckland, Monday afternoon. Arrived: City of San Francisco. The mails are on board the Mikado, -which will avrive tomorrow, having been sighted by the City of San Francisco astern yesterday. The whole time occupied front San Francisco was 21 days 10 hours ; running time, 20 days ten hours — the fastest time on record. Sir George Bowea is a passenger for Mel' bourne. Spain is sending further aemforcements to- Cuba. It does not anticipate American intervention, and thinks Europe would not permit it. One hundred and forty lives were lost by an explosion at Swathe Colliery, England, caused by careless blasting operations. A similar disaster occurred in a coal mine at New Pentrick, South Wales. Another steamer wrecked. Fearful loss- of lifer — The Deutchland, from Bremen, struck noar Arwiok, England, during a fog. About 7& lives were lost.
