Miss Agnea Graham, from Tapanni High School, has been appointed third assistant at Toko High School, vice Miss Crawford, resigned. An enjoyable " afternoon " was spent by about 30 Clarksviile and district la* dies at Mrs Alex. Allison's residence, " Gowanbank," last Friday, for the purpose of bidding au revoir to Mrs John Adam, junr., on the eve of her departure for Crookston, where her husband has taken over a farming property. Mes< dames T. Scott and B. Clark acted as spokeswomen in presenting Mrs Adam with a Morris ohair and cushion, also a stool for each of her two ohildren. Mu sical items and afternoon tea whiled away a pleasant afternoon. The Oam'aru Presbytery has nominated Rev. S. W. Currie, M.'A., of Balclufcha, for tlio position of Moderator of the next General Assembly of the Presbyterian 'Church of New Zealand.

/ A pleasant little function took place in the Distriot High School on Thursday afternoon when the pupils of Standards 1., 11., and III; assembled to present Miss Crawford with a farewell gift. Gwen McLaren, in a bright little speech, spoke of their affection for their teacher and of their best wishes for her future in Maheno school. Molly Gray then presented a lady's handbag and Peggy Bain a bouquet of spring fbwers to Miss Crawford, who thanked the ohildren, and assured them that Bhe would value their gifts which would remind her often of-happy sohool days in Milton.
