Flood Notes.

Word waß received from Kaitangata at the County. omoe on Saturday morn., ing that the bridge and old lock, next the dairy factory on the riverside road, had been swept away by the pent up flood waters. As the structure hid withstood the height of the flood for some days, it is evident the soakage had loooened a considerable area on either bank of the outlet from the oanal into the river, as extensive damage has resulted to the roadway. It is roughly estimated that it will cost £IOOO to make the road fib for traffic.

The water on the Taieri plain ii now subsiding very quiokly. The banka were out at Henley on Saturday, and this is allowing it to run away more freely, The break in the bank at Ofcokia made by the flood is very large, and a hole of con« siderable size has been .scoured out. The river is also falling quickly. The position at Kaitangata in regard to the canal look is still unsatisfactory, states the Daily Times correspondent. Communication is limited to a small boat up the river, and this also takes the mails.
