Presentation at Milburn.

TIIO Milburn School was well filled last Moiiduy evomng, on the occasion of presentations being made to Miss Mary Drinnan, who has occupied tlio position of postmistress and bookkeeper at the Milburn store for some years. Mr G. S. Toiukinson occupied the chair, ana briefly stated the object of the meeting.

Mr W. Grey said that ho-had been asked to make the presentation, on behalf of the district, and he felt honored at boing chosen to present Miss Drinnan with a handsome gold watch and chain suitably inscribed. He did not think there was any lady in New Zealand better fitted for the position she had held. He had invariably found her k courteous and obliging.—(Applause, and the singing "i (1 or she's a jolly good fellow)." „ Mr A. P. Grey expressed his pleasure at being present, but at the same time was sorry that they were saying goodbye to Miss Drinnan. .He had come in contact with her as much as anyone, and was sorry they were losing her services. Amid all the worries and waiting at the telephone she was always cheerful. On behalf of the Milburn Lime and Cement Company, lie had much pleasure in asking her to accept a very dainty afternoon Doulton tea service. —(Applause). The Chairman also spoke in complinienary terms of Miss Drinnan's ability and tjact in all hei duties, and 011 behalf of himself and the rest of tho staff he presented her with a nice dressing case, and trusted she would be long spared to use it.—(Applause). Mr \Y. J. Lawrence briefly replied on behalf of Miss Drinnan.' She 11 ad dono what she considered to be her duty, and she would always cherish the tokens of esteem that had been given that evening.—(Applause). During the evening the following programme was rendered:—lnstrumental duets, Messrs J as. and H. Smith; pianoforte solo, Miss Williamson; vocal items,—Mrs Lawrence, Misses Grey, Simonseu, and Braoyn, Messrs Lawrence and W. T, Bruuyn; recitation, Mr \V. Smith. The garnering closed with the .National Anthem and cheers for Miss Drinnan.
