THIRTEEN.
Steering a motor-boat, No. 13, across the Thames near Southwark Bridge, Police-Sergeant George Spooner, of the Thames Police, whose name contains 13 letters, was drowned tho other evening as the result of eddies driving the boat under the bow of a barge. Two other policemen in the boat saved themselves by jumping on to tho barge.
