WAIHOLA SCHOOL.
The Waihola School broke up for its annual holidays on Friday, 16th December, and during ihe evening a large number of parents a"nd friends assembled in the schoolhouse to listen to a capital concert rendered by the children, also to witness the distribution of prizes. Opportunity was taken by Mr Wm. I Smith (chairman School Committee) to congratulate Mr Pnterson (teacher) on his successful year's work, also to thank him and Miss Hilgendorf for hiving spent so much time in preparing the children to render suoh a capital entertainment. The committee presented each scholar with a book. The following was the programme : — Douglas Paterson, an opening speech ; school children, song, "Poor old Joe"; George Reid, recitation, "Climbing"; Eva Crane, song, "Jeanette and Junot " ; Fannie Orlouski, recitation, " Mother's Right Hand ; T eannie Sinclair and Nellie Gray, piano duet, "Sweet Smiles"; O.ive Patersen, reading, " How Jemmie tended the baby " ; school children, song. " Aunt Jesusha's Cat " ; Nellie Gray, piano solo ; George Randle, recitation, " That's not the way at sea " ; Fanny Orlouski, song, " I love the merry, merry sunshine" ; Julius Bungard, recitation, " Barbara Frietchie " ; Teannie Sinclair, piano solo ; feannie Sinclair, recitation, " Welcome little Robin"; Nellie Gray and Eva Crane, piano duet, "March round the Maypole"; school children, song, " Beautiful Star " ; Edward Smith, recitation, " How we ran the Black Warrigal horse " ; school children, soiuj, " The Gipsy's Warning " , Eva Crane, piano solo ; Jas, Smith, song, " Old Folks at Home"; Olive Paterson, recitation, " Dunedin from the Bay " ; school children, song, " The Blue Bells of Scotland."
