Kaitangata School Committee.

The monthly meeting was held on Tuesday, 2oth December, when all the members were • present, Mr A. Blackie in chair. The Chairman reported having granted . additional day's holiday, viz., 30th January, so that the school will re-open on Tuesday, 31st of next month.: — The Chairman's action was approved of. Mr E. M'Laughlan (Captain Kaitangata Gymnasium Club) and Mr C. T. Swannell approached Committee and asked if they would kindly reconsider their decision as to allowing the Club the use of hall during day time. I* . was explained that owing to' different shifts some members could only turn up of an evening every other week, thus their subscriptions were being paid for half time. The deputation apologised for conning upon the meeting without previous notice, and thanked the Committee for gmng them a reasonable hearing, and then withdrew.— Mr Mawke moved, and Mr Sarjeant seconded, that the gymnasium be granted to Club during school holidays on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from io a.ra. till noon. — Carried unanimously.' Moved by Mr Hawke, seconded by Mr Frazer, that a committee consisting of chairman, secretary, and Messrs Houston and Barclay with the mover interview the head-master re additional use of gymnasium by pupils belonging to the school. — Carried unanimously. Mr Barclay moved, and Mr Morrison seconded, that the foregoing committee approach the Board asking their views regarding use of gymnasium by Club during school hours. — Carried unanimously. The Chairman reported having interviewed the Secretary of the Education Board, who led him to understand that appliances and fittings for technical school would be applied for by Education Board. On the motion of theChahman it was unanimously agreed to record in the minutes an expression of thanks and appreciation of Mr Allen's services in connection with the breakup of Kaitangata School, and also of his liberality in again donating a book to each pupil in the infant room ; a copy of the resolution to be forwarded to Mr Allen. Mr Morrison moved, and Mr Hawke seconded, that vote of thanks l>e accorded to Rev. R. Scott-Allan for his services in connection with the break-up. The Committee have to acknowledge receipt from the head -master of the sum of £19 5s gd towards equipping technical school, and desire to tender to the teachers their sincere thanks for the same. Resolved that the teachers be also thanked for their services in connection with the breakup ceremony. The monthly report showed that the average for thequarter was 347, as against 324 for the previous quarter. There is no fear of losing a teacher, the average attendance for year being 334- „ . . . r . . An application was received from headmaster- for four clocks for school and some asphalting round school residence. — It was decided that matter re clocks be referred to the Board, and that works committee report on asphalting work required. The treasurer reported the receipt from head-master of £12 is, amount collected by school children in connection with the prizes ; also the sum of £9 is, being net balacce of break-up entertainment. The following accounts were passed for payment:—Mrs Hewitt £4 3s Bd, Whitcombe / and Tombs £9 7s 3d, H. S. H^tchon £8 7s 6d, J. H. Moir 4s 9d, A. Biackie ios. Mr Barclay gave a very favorable report re techaical school, and works committee will have several small matters in hand during vacation.
