Oaten Biscuits.
Take three ounces of butter, or butter
and lard, cut it into pieces, and place it in a saucepan to melt. Meanwhile mix together In a basin six ounces of flour, four ounces of medium oatmeal, two ounces of caster sugar, and a saltspoonful of carbonate of soda. Mix the dry ingredients well together, and then stir in the warm (butter. Beat up an egg with a taiblespoonful of cold water, add it to the mixture, and knead it well. Roll the paste out thin, cut the biscuits into tbe shapes required, and bake them on ia* greased baking-sheet in a moderate oven. _,
