Adams Flat
» (From Our Own Correspondent). The reason of your Adams Flat correspondent's long silence is not scarcity of news, as is usually the case, oh dear no, nothing like that — for we have had very stirring and exciting times here of late, I can assure you, parties, silver weddings, dances, dredges starting, distinguished visitors arriving, &c, &c, to say nothing of rifle shooting, cycle record breakiug, and so on. However, I would be neglecting my duty if I omitted to write of the silver wedding. On the Bth inst., Mr and Mrs Joseph Wilner celebrated the 25th anniversary of their wedding by giving their friends a party, amongst whom were several old friends who 25 years ago welcomed the happy couple, if not with showers of rice and old boots, with a hearty welcome on the day of their marriage. During the evening dancing and games were indulged in, intercepted by occasional refreshments. A very nice collection of useful silver presents, which will serve to remind the happy couple of the pleasant time spent on the twenty-fifth anniversary of their wedding, were presented The evening's enjoyment was brought to a close by bhe guests singing "Auld Lang Syne," everyone goipg home well pleased with their evening out. As a result of rabbit poisoning on the Government reserve, I notice lately severa young wild ducks stretched out dead. The Adams Flat dredge, after ucde going extensive alterations, has apain started work in real earnest, and is now running three shifts. So shareholders will be anxiously looking for the wash-up, which I believe will prove something good, and Bhould all go on well and no accidents happen, I believe the Adams Flat dredge will give a good account of herself. Sowing is pretty well advanced in the district, and farmers are busy as is usual at this season of the year. The rabbit export trade is about over tor the season, as after this month the factories will close until next autumn.
