Bum eventually filling the places: Miss 'Madge 'King won the skipping for girls under 10 years, and Mis s Ethel M* William gained a distinction for those under 15 •years. . • , • -, .. „.? .. On Saturday afternoon the, Band, in circus fashion, serenaded the* town and evidently made itself* 'heard, for an extra large attendance filled the hall that evening. In a secular song .competition, Mr Gt. Johnstone was .first, and Mr J. B. M'Clympnt and Mr W. King tied for secpnd place. Messrß A. Lowery, J. Wyber, and T/« Curran each guessed 701bs as the weight of a sheep on exhibition and divided the prize. The popular conductor, Mr Chas. King, seeing the unprecedented success of the affair, wisely decided to open again last night and clear off every article on the stalls. Needless to aay he is jubilant at such a succesful issue. The gross receipts up to Saturday night, we are informed, amounted to £145. As he puts it : " We headed our bill ' The event of the year/ and so it has proved to be.''
