Waitahuna
(From Our Own Correspondent) The Waitahuna School Committee held tbeir usual monthly meeting on Monday evening in the School Library when Messra York (chairman), M'Ara (Secretary), Cowen, Auld, Toner, W. Auld (carpenter), were present. The minuteß of last meeting were read and confirmed. A communication from the Secretary of the Education Board was read, Staling that the Board was willing to pay one-half the cost of erecting a fence round the School Glebe. It was resolved to call tenders for erecting the fence, and that the Committee meet on Monday, 15th inst., to open teoderß. An account for £3 2s 6d was passed for payment. The head-master reported that the average attendance for the month of July was 64 5, and that the highest attendance on any half day, was 66, Oa Saturday night mi early on
Sunday moruing a considerable quanti y of snow fell, and on Sunday snow showers fell during the day. The snow was of a light feathery nature, and beiug accompanied wibh a strong sou' west wind it gathered in drifts in some places several feet in depth. On an average it was between four and five inches deep. July bas been a very rainy month, and everywhere the ground is thoroughly saturated, so j much so tbat farming operations are at a standstill for the present.
