Bowling
A special meeting of the Milton Bowling Club was held in the White Horse Hotel on Friday evening, to consider a proposal by the caretaker to re-burf a part of the green. A good number of members were present, and the president (Mr F. M'LeodJ, was in the chair.
Mr Charters (caretaker), explained the object for which tbe meeting had been convened, stating that if permission to go on with the work could be obtained at once, he would be able to have the green playable for next season. After some discussion, Mr Moore moved that Mr Charter's offer for turfiag, levelling, and topdressing the green be accepted. This was seconded by Mr Haggitt, and carried. Mr Charters then kindly offered to put a drain through the green on condition that the pipes were supplied by the club. This was aocepted with thanks. A motion tbat all members who were in arrear with their annual subscriptions be communicated with waß agreed to, the meeting being unanimous that it was high time tho money had been paid. At this stage Mr Moore kindly offered two guineas towards the improvements, and was followed by Mr Bastings who intimated that he would deduct two pounds from the rent for the year. Needless to say these " good ideas " were loudly applauded. Mr Reed thon brought up about tho annual meetiog, saying that it would soon be time to hold it, and moved that after the formal business was concluded, a smoke concert be held, instead of a dinner as was done last year. This was seconded by Mr D. Taylor, and carried.
A committee, consisting of Messrs R. Robertson, A. B. Haggitt, G..Reed, and A. Parlane, was then appointed to make all arrangements in connection with the same.
This was all the business, and the meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair.
