Football Notes

• # [By Onlookbb] The School easily beat their town cousins on Saturday, winning by 23pts (7 tries, one of which was converted) to 3pts (1 try). The local boys were somewhat heavier than the visitors, and besides played the game much better. Moen secured four, and Peesdale three, of the tries obtained, and these players were, besides, towers of strength to their side ; Howie and Porter also show promise of mark in the future. Gr. Littlejohn captained the team and made a very good general, while J. Beid kicked the goal referred to. The game was played in two 40-min spells in very good spirit, but some of the Normal boys were a bit down on their luck at times at their beating. Mr Thos. Comber made a capable referee and gave general satisfaction. A practice game was held by the Milton Club after the above match and was attended by soma 16 members, who played for about an hour and a half. The game was if anything on the rough aide, which is to be regretted, but, owing to the playera being " soft as yet, perhaps the spills were more keenly felt. ej A game between the "Woollen Mill and Pottery employees for Saturday next is being much discussed just now. I should like to see this eventuate, as it would be a good oportunity for practice and would give the match committee an idea of the probable fifteen for the 24th. The Club this season will unfortunately ba without the services of Turner and Moyes, both promising players, who are now residing in Dunedin. In the case of Turner especially, his place will be hard to fill, as difficulty has always been experienced in obtaining a good half. May the knowledge of such a vacancy be the means of rousing members to better results.
