Somo of the best French modistes aro making skirts for gowns of India silk and Bimilar fabrics in three layers that aro neither overskirts nor flounces. These three parts arc pointed at tho front and tho
back and are short on tho sides, where thero is also some fullness: They ore mounted on a foundation skirt, across the sides and bock .of which a wide double box plaited ruohing extends at the foot. This stylo is well illustrated in a reception dress of pole green satin, with butterfly revors, to a black velvet zouave. The full sleeves aro closely gathered to the wrist and the cente-rfci^tne puff oaught in at the top. -^mRZZ
