CHRISTCHURCH CORN EXCHANGE.

Report for week ended Friday, June 27, 1890 :-

The break in the weather since last report was written haß assisted farming operations as regards ploughing, but has interfered with deliveries of potatoes. Wheat is fi m at the prices current for the past few weekb ; only in a very few instances have sales been made at over 3s Id, f.0.b., for Tuscan (*nd other sorts in proportion) ; where this price has been exceeded there were some exceptional reasons for giving an advance on the figures quoted. It ban been brought under our notice that some market reports invariably quote a shade over prices obtainable. Oatß are dull, but prime milling, nay 45ibto 481 bto the bushel, are iv better demand for export to London ; even at the low prices ruling here this is somewhat speculative. Barley : A good inquiry for prime malting— any other quality dormant. Pease : A good inquiry for Pi ussian blueß of good quality and hand-threshed continues. Beans : Some inquiries for shipment may be noted ai quotations. Ryegrass and cocksfoot are both coming into notice, nnd values are slightly hardening. Potatoes : The weather has interfered with deliveries, and to fill up space buyers have in some cases givei an additional 2s 6i per ton where the> could be sent down to a steamer at short notioe. It is pleasing to note thai the exceptional quality of thiß year's crop has already been appreciated by our Australian cousins. Butter is coming to hand in very small quantities, and fuly maintains the recent increase iv value. Cheese : No outside demand exists, aud values are consequently nominal.
