DUNEDIN STOCK REPORT.

Mr Donald Stronach (on behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited) reports for the week ending 26th May as follows : — Fat Cattle.—lsß head were yarded at Burnside to-day, of which 20 head were stores, and of the remainder but few were of prime quality. The demand was poor, and last week's prices were scarcely maintained. Bullocks fetched from £8 10s to £9 lo* ; and cows, £4 to £6 2s 6d per head. We quote prime beef 22s Gd, and medium 18s to 20s per 1001 b. Fat Calves. —Thirteen were sold at from 253 to 37s 6d, according to size and quality. Fat Sheep were in very full supply. Of the 358S penned 2102 were merinos, and 14SG crossbreds. For the latter the demand was fair, and prices ruled about same as last week, but it was difficult to effect sales of the merinos, and a con* siderable number were held over, many being in low condition. CroiS-breds sold at from di 9d to 12s 3d ; and meriuos at Us 6d to 7s 9d per head. Quotations for prime mutton (cross-bred), . 2d per lb. Fat Lambs.—Only 21 were forwarded, which we sold at 5s per head. Wool.—Wo are glad to observe that the telegrams received during the week report an improvement in the tone of the London auctions now in progress, and as, judging by detailed advices to hand by the mail, the condition of the market both in Great Britain and on the Continent was a very healthy one, we are hopeful of the improvement being confirmed and continued to the close of the series. Locally there is nothing of interest to report. Sheepskins.—Our weekly sale was held on Tuesday, when, with fair competition, we cleared

a good catalogue at Borne improvement on last week's prioos. Butchers' crossbred skins realised 3s 4d to 3s sd ; merino, 2s 5d ; station ■kins, in bales, 6&d per lb. Hides.— There is nothing f reuh to report, the demand continuing good at the quotations whioh hat a prevailed for several weeks. Tallow.— Some small parcels have been placed for Colonial consumption at our last week's prices, and for such quality there is a fair inquiry.
