ACCIDENT AT THE CLUTHA.

A NARHOW ESCAPE.

A narrow escape from a serious accident occurred yesterday afternoon about 3 o'clock. W. P. Smith of Inch Clutha, was driving a dray along the Hasborough road, on the north side of the river. Between the bridges tbe horse shied and precipitated itself with the dray over the embankment, twenty feefc high, into the river. The man got out half way down and clung to a bush, thus saving his life. He has been trying to recover tbe dray, but as yet unsuccessfully.
