S. Reunert, Returning, Officer for North Ward, wrote asking the Council to reconsider their decision in reference to lh« remuneration of Returning Officer. No .union was taken in the matter. STREET REPAIRS. The Mayor mentioned that he had written to Mr Armstrong, and telegraphed to Mr M'WilHim iv, reference to tho filling in holes in the streets, and that he had teen Mr Blair and arranged as to supply of clay. Cr. Mason" moved — "That the work of repairing the streets be proceeded with in the following order:— lst, John stiee ; 2nd, Gordon street ; and 3rd, Barr street, as far as funds would permit Seconded by Cr. Hutchins, and carried. FENCING THE RAILWAY LINE. It was agreed that the Mayor should arrange wi'h the Government to have the railway line feuced from Renfrew street to the budge. EOAD TO POUND. The Mayor mentioned that Mr A M'Neil had agre> d to allow access to the pound through his property in the meantime. ELIZABETH STREET. The Mayor stated that Eliztbeth street would be attended to as soon as rivrr went dowo and gravel could be obtained. POSTPONED Cr. Canning asked leave to postpone motions standing in his name until next meeting. Granted. PASSENGER TRAINS. It was agreed that the Mayor should take steps to see that the late trains from Dunedin should convey passengers to B<l--clutha, and that he should see Mr Con yers with a view to arrange that ihe through express train should stop at Balclutha. BOROUGH BESERTE. It was left to the Mayor to make enquiries as to position of 1000 acres reserve granted to Borough. WORKS COMMITTEE. Cr. Gawn was appointed member of "Works Committee. The Council then rose.
